Stromlo’s pump track has been known for epic battles and today Rocky Trail put on their new Pump Track Shootout race with live timing, qualification time trials, and top 30 and top 20 heats, hot seat and a ton of smiles! Race participants across a wide range of age groups clocked in multiple race times and the fastest group of racers in male and female classifications then progressed through the final Shootout Heats. The outright male and female winners received a cheque for $300 each and the online results portal also shows age category results based on the fastest time throughout the day in additional male and female adult and junior age classifications.

At Stromlo the qualifying time trials determined the top 30 racers who then raced in heats for the top 20 and then had a crack at two final runs – the fastest time counted.

Local gun Yuta Leffers topped the ranks from the quali races with Mitch Benham and Jack Nelson hot on his heels – Banjo King was in 8th position and quickly climbed up the ranks to third in the next Top 30 Shootout. In the final Shootout it was Yuta Leffers who took out the money spot with 12,73 seconds ahead of Banjo King (12,91) and Mitch Benham came third (13,13).

Five women were at the start and right from the start Amelia Stichbury dominated the field. The U13 just returned with a pump track win at the Cannonball Festival and was in top form. In the top 30 Shootout Amelia was in the hot seat ahead of Leonie Wohl and Carissa Kirk-Pattman. No change in the final and Amelia won with 15,33 ahead of Leonie (16,52) and Carissa (16,69).

The new Pump Track National Champion Jayce Cunning had watched the Stromlo action via the Insta Stories in transit back from Tasmania to the Sunshine Coast. The winner in the inaugural Pump Track Shootout at Sugar Bag MTB Track in August last year, Jayce will be at the start of the next event in Victoria on 19 March:

Rocky Trail will put on the Omeo Pump Track Shootout in East Gippsland’s Omeo – Jayce Cunning and Canberra’s Sian A’Hern will be offering skills clinic sessions on the day and then race with the crowd for a prize pool of $3,500 across the male and female top 16 place getters.
