Experience Spring in Canberra: Epic Trails & Off-the-Bike Adventures!
Explore Floriade and beyond as you unveil the delights of Canberra’s many spring activities on the Rocky Trail racing weekend!
Spring in the nation’s capital is something special. As the weather warms up, Canberra transforms into a vibrant hub for outdoor adventure, world-class food, and seasonal celebrations – making it the ultimate destination for mountain bikers and their crews.
On 26-27 September, Rocky Trail Entertainment brings two massive events to Canberra: the Shimano 100 and the AusCycling Marathon National Championships. But the excitement doesn’t stop when you cross the finish line! If you’re traveling down for race weekend, there is an endless variety of things to see, taste, and experience off the bike.
Here’s a taste of what’s happening in Canberra on our race weekend:
- Floriade (Feast of Flowers): Australia’s biggest flower festival is in full bloom at Commonwealth Park. Race weekend falls right in the middle of the Harvesting and Feasting phase, featuring over one million blooming flowers, pop-up local producers, guest chefs, and delicious communal dining.
- Spring Sustainability Market (Sunday 27 Sept): Head over to Haig Park for a special edition market packed with organic produce, sustainable local crafts, live music, and interactive native reptile displays.
- Lakeside Drinks & Eats: Unwind after your ride with a lakeside drink at Margot Bar or The Jetty, cruise Lake Burley Griffin in a self-drive GoBoat, or grab a bite at the Saturday morning Little Burley Market.
- Family Fun & Local Culture: Bring the family to Treetops Adventure for high-ropes ziplining, check out the RELICS: A New World Rises LEGO® exhibition, or explore local Indigenous heritage on a guided Dhawura Tour.
- Cellar Doors: Take a short drive out to the Murrumbateman wine region to sample some of Australia’s finest cool-climate wines.
Whether you’re chasing a podium spot or supporting a rider, make a full weekend out of your trip to the capital!
