Race venue

Cooma is the largest town in the Snowy Mountains Region. Set amongst rolling plains, legendary rivers and snow capped peaks, Cooma is known as the capital of the Snowy Mountains.

Mt Gladstone MTB Park is located just 3.5km west of Cooma, Mount Gladstone Reserve in Cooma is home to over 7km of prime enduro single track. Day-trip it from Canberra, stop en-route to the mountains, or make it a weekend – it won’t disappoint!

Fox Superflow® – 29 & 30 April

We are looking forward to racing on the home trails of The Snowy Mountains MTB Club – this is a social MTB club whose focus is on building awesome trails and riding in the Cooma area. We can’t wait to return to Mount Gladstone awesome trails!

This is enduro racing with new friends and without a tight schedule. Work with your crew and other racers to figure out the best order to race, get strategic! Elite racer, grom or noob, any age, will have a blast: there are no harsh cut-off times or start orders, which means whatever category you’re in, you can ride together and each lock your own best race run in!

The Travellers Rest is a collaboration of buildings nestled in Pine Valley in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, just 6kms west of Cooma along the Snowy Mountains Highway.

The Travellers Rest was originally settled in 1861, and the quaint buildings house a chapel, functions room, accommodation, old-wares/coffee shop along with a restaurant and newly established whiskey lounge.

Ellstanmor Country Guesthouse accommodation is very smart, but casual. Guests have a nice, clean, renovated and furnished room with en-suite bathroom.  Some rooms can be combined to make a large suite with a living room and a huge veranda or the old servant’s quarters that has been extended and renovated makes a great self contained two bedroom apartment.

The parlour with French doors to the front of the house has a comfortable leather club suite. The dining room is the hub of the home, casual but very Victorian, with a large bay window and ornate fixtures.

Snaps for schnappsWild Brumby founder Brad Spalding grew up in the fruit belts of NSW and Victoria and started as a ski instructor at the age of 15 in the Victorian Ski Fields. Brad also did some instructing in Austria where he met wife Monika, whose grandfather had for a long time been distilling schnapps. Brad found himself enchanted by this rich distilling heritage and dreamt of introducing it to Australia’s Snowy Region – where the rest is history!

Luxury on the lakeAmazing activities all in one place in a world class resort. Accommodation, two restaurants, ski hire for winter, mountain bike hire for summer. Activities include segway eco tours, archery, trampolining, river sledding to name just a few. Need to relax after participating in all the resort has to offer?  No problem, head to the Spa for a massage or facial then treat yourself to dinner in either a casual dining atmosphere in the Alpine Larder, or something more formal at Cuisine on Lake Crackenback.

Raglan GalleryTo coincide with the 75th Landrover Anniversary celebrations, the Raglan Gallery is staging a special art exhibition called MOTORING ON.
The team asked artists of all disciplines, local and beyond, to contribute works that relate to cars and other motor vehicles. The response was overwhelming and we think you will really enjoy the incredible mix of paintings, drawings, photos, sculptures and more.

Did somene say shopping?Birdsnest is one of Australia’s favourite online women’s fashion stores and their one and only shopfront is in the beautiful hometown of Cooma. Visit the store and let the friendly ‘shop birds’ show you the collection from over 250+ brands, help you create amazing outfits and share their styling tips. You can even order online before your visit and pick-up in store.

Go deep undergroundIn the northern region of Kosciuszko National Park you will find some of the most beautiful caves in Australia – a must see for this end of the park! Created within a belt of limestone some 440 million years ago there are five caves open to the public for viewing and exploring them is just the start. Follow up with a dip in the thermal pool or choose from several walks around the area.

Cooma Monaro Railway MuseumThis heritage railway museum is based at Cooma Station, and extensive repairs and restoration work at the station are nearly complete, with the Station Master’s Office (restored to an 1890’s configuration), the Waiting Room and the Signal Box all now available for viewing by the public.

Hit the roadThere are a number of loops and trails across the Snowy Mountains and you can follow these to discover historic sites including the villages of NimmitabelDalgetyBerridale and Adaminaby. The Kosciuszko Alpine Way is one of Australia’s great touring routes. It takes you through Jindabyne and threads its way through picturesque mountain valleys. Then it takes you through Thredbo Village and Dead Horse Gap and passes close to Tom Groggin camping area. The drive continues to Khancoban where you can take in dramatic views of both the mountains and Murray 1 and Murray 2 Power Stations tucked away in the gorges on the far side of the range.
8.
Lock the kids up (just kidding)Learn about the 200 year penal history of incarceration from convict days to the present in NSW Prisons. There is a collection of displays of objects related to punishment and crime such as manacles, leg irons, clothing, weapons and escape devices and other visual documentation. Take the kids – they’ll love it!
9.
Walk the townTake the The Lambie Town Walk around the beautiful township of Cooma. In particular you can enjoy three heritage listed areas – The Court House Precinct, Lambie Street Precinct and Church Precincts.  The walk is approximately 5 kilometres and will take just over an hour on foot.

Charles Davis GalleryVisit the gallery in town – Charles Davis has been photographing the amazing natural world around him for over a decade. Pop in for a stroll around one of the most iconic attractions in the NSW Snowy Mountains. Located in a beautiful restored church in the main street of Cooma, the Charles Davis Photography Gallery features a collection of Charles’ most popular & award winning photographs, as well as the Kunama Book and bespoke giftware range.
