The Fox Superflow® sealed by Stan’s at Mt Joyce concluded the Queensland South Series race for 2021. Rory McKenzie and Jess Hoskin are our Elite Series Winners with a huge depth of field across all age groups.
The Fox Superflow® is Rocky Trail’s gravity enduro format that tells it’s shredders “race the way you ride”. Flexible transition stages and 3 timed stages with 15 possible race runs all up – the fastest time on each of the three stages counts. The racing format was originally launched across NSW and the ACT where it has built up a huge following over the last 10 years. This year’s North and South Queensland Series have now established it in the Sunshine State as well.
“Our philosophy is to built up a community of #rockytrailracers, offering them a super-professional racing circuit with challenging gravity enduro trails, which let them create their own adventures for the day”, says Bob Morris, Rocky Trail’s Race Director of the Queensland events. “The Fox Superflow has now a strong following and the Mt Joyce event had full podiums in almost every category”, he added and that the race calendar for 2022 was almost ready for launch.
“Our Queensland riders have truly embraced the Rocky Trail ‘way of racing’ – social with an amazing community spirit and as tough as you want to be. Race your mates, race for podiums or against a personal best – we get to provide a playground for a wide variety of racers with our juniors from as young as 10 up to 17 representing over a third of the racing field at each event”, explains Event Manager Jo Parker.
The format had a lot of Veteran 30+ and Masters 40+ get in between the tape and has attracted a keen female following too.
Rory McKenzie and Jess Hoskin take the top Elite wins and Series titles at Mt Joyce
The 30-year old Rory McKenzie from Mt Cotton is the 2021 QLD South Series Winner and is currently in the lead even of an Australian ranking. Rory said that he was “stoked to grab another win making it a clean sweep” – four consecutive wins Nerang – Eastern Escarpment – Ipswich and Mt Joyce on the weekend!

Over 2,200 racers have participated so far – one more Fox Superflow event is scheduled in the Illawarra region of NSW in November and could still shake things up.
Elite female winner Jess Hoskin from the Sunshine Coast is in a similar position – she claimed the South QLD Series and is currently on top of the leader board of the Australian Series. Only Canberra’s Zoe Cuthbert could still steal her thunder at Green Valleys MTB Park in NSW.

Hoskin clocked in a race time of 16:42.5 at Mt Joyce and the U17’s Ella Menigoz placed second outright in the women’s with a gap of 37 sec. Elite racer Annie Mayne from Brisbane placed third ahead of Bella St Pierre.
In the men’s Elite Rory McKenzie finished in 13:54.3 ahead of John Wallace and Jay Edwards. In outright second came U17’s Carter Sloan from The Gap in 15:42.5 and the U17’s Series Winner Isaiah Kelso came in third outright.
