Get ready for the Fox Superflow, sealed by Stan’s on the Central Coast 2018

Rocky Trail’s Fox Superflow, sealed by Stan’s is one of the original enduro-style gravity racing series in Australia. All events of the series are stand-alone races and participants can collect points for an overarching series classification. The next event will be held on 1 July near Wyong in NSW, supported by the local Central Coast Council. Here are some bits and pieces of information to get you ready for and into the mood for racing with Rocky Trail Entertainment!

The Ourimbah trails will offer really “old-school” Fox Superflow-race tracks that will be fun to explore! Located on the Central Coast right in between Sydney and Newcastle it is the perfect getaway for a weekend – the trails will be marked on the Saturday, go have a recky and then hit the local pubs, cafes and restaurants and explore the many beautiful spots on the Central Coast.

As locals, the Rocky Trail crew will be sharing some of our favourite activities and attractions on the Central Coast – come with your mates, bring your family and the kids or plan that weekend away with your loved one. If you’re not all racing, there are plenty of activities to keep everyone happy while you race!

If you have already signed up, it’s awesome to have you on board! Still one the fence? Online registrations are open until Friday evening before race day! Should we be getting close to selling out, we will communicate it via our website and our social media platforms.

The venue – Ourimbah

Ourimbah is the ‘home track’ of the Rocky Trail crew and as such we are really excited to have our racers ‘come and visit’ us on the Central Coast. We’re so proud that the local Council has been supporting our events and we also have a couple of local businesses who are looking forward to welcoming you with some giveaways at the race and discounts at their stores.

Take the F3 from Sydney, take the Wyong turnoff, turn left and follow the road to the T junction. Turn left towards Yarramalong for a couple of km’s and Red Hill road will be on your left as you come down the first hill. From the North take the F3 and exit at the Sparks Rd / Toukley off ramp and turn right. After 300 metres at the T junction turn left onto Hue Hue Rd. Follow this to the T junction. Turn right towards Yarramalong. Red Hill Rd is a couple of Km’s on your left as you come down the first hill.

With our new timing system we have new options as well as some limitations so here is what we will run:

  • 2 tracks – as we need phone reception for live results the finish will be near ‘Schladming’ and the big rock at the bottom of ‘Rollercoaster’ for those familiar with the track.
  • You will need to do 2 runs on each track and have up to 5 tries (your fastest 2 will count).
  • U13 and U15 categories will only have to do 1 run per track but also have mutliple tries where their fastest time will count.

Camping is allowed at this venue.

Here is the trailmap from last year’s race – we will use some of those and mix it up a little (scroll down to the Ourimbah Round):

*** Heads up ***
Martin will be exploring the trails this week and confirm the final race routes by Wednesday, 27 June – we will definitely have 2 race tracks and potentially a third one, however, this depends a lot on trail conditions. We’ll keep you posted.

The surrounds – Wyong and the Central Coast

We have been living on the NSW Central Coast since 2012 and have settled into a bush & beach lifestyle up here. Especially since having our little son 2.5 years ago we have been exploring the region on foot and on bicycles and we want to tempt you to make a weekend out of it! Bring your family, come with a bunch of mates, take along your loved one… there is a lot to do and to explore up here and it’s not far from Sydney and Newcastle and well worth the drive from Canberra or further away!

Hey, did you know it’s whale watching season? – We are sharing our favourite spots and more activities on our blog:

> Fun stuff for Rocky Trail FAMILIES – whale watching, bushwalking, playgrounds, beaches and more!

> Action for Rocky Trail MATES – beer tasting, pubs, hiking and more!

> Getaway ideas for Rocky Trail COUPLES – romantic restaurants, hip cafes, nature walks to escape it all and more!

The racing – a social affair

The Fox Superflow events, sealed by Stan’s are unique Australia-wide! They are enduro-style gravity races, based on the European and North American formats, HOWEVER, at Rocky Trail there are:

(1) No Start Orders – you can ride with your friends, kids and partners together all day, even if they are in a different age/skill category

(2) No Worries – you pick the sequence of race tracks, the timing points are all LIVE as soon as the racing starts

Why Superflow?
Because the race tracks are picked by the Rocky Trail crew so that they give the riders that “super flowy” feeling! Each timed section demands different skill sets of the riders – from tricky sections around rocks and tight corners to flowy berms and quick stints that needed pedal power and endurance.

Almost all events require riders to ride to the starts on their bikes (but not for this event in Thredbo!) and it that way the series offers a big variety of trails. All our trails can be as tough as you want them to be – there are always different line choices and generally, the faster and the harder you go, the more challenging they get. We specifically pick our venues to meet those requirements.

No start order, no worries – Spend all day together!
They are unique Australia-wide in that we can offer an awesome day out to a wide range of riders – from elite to amateur racers to families, couples and groups of friends riding together. We have introduced a very flexible timing system so our events don’t require any start orders and riders can pick the sequence in which to complete the timed race stages themselves. That way, riders of different categories can spend all day riding and racing together!

Race atmosphere

The atmosphere in our event centre is friendly, happy and inclusive and you will see that Martin is very much in charge. We have been working with most of our suppliers for years – from first aiders to marshals to caterers to photographers, it is our top priority for you to have an amazing time out on your bike and to lend a helping (and rescuing) hand if need be.

Race results

Will be available LIVE during the race – we’ll try our hardest to push all results to the website right away. Ourimbah is a bit of a challenge, as the club downhill finish for instance is out of reception, but we will place our timing gear so that we can transmit data as consistently as possible. Fingers crossed!! It should all work out and you can click through to the results portal via this link:

Food & Drinks

You can bring your own supplies and we’ll have our caterer The Daily Espressos on-site who will look after you all day with hot and cold drinks of course and they always have something up their sleeves when it comes to the food and snacks. Choose from yogurt and muesli and fresh fruit as well as pasta dishes, your classic sandwiches and snacks to tasty shakes and sweet treats.

Support Service

We will have the crew from MONDRAKER Australia on-site to assist you with mechanicals – they have some cool offers when it comes to bike service and set-up, have a chat to Jason “Moxy” Moxham and he can sort you out.
