Welcome to Mount Buller, the most accessible alpine resort in Australia! Mt Buller offers the perfect summer escape no matter what your tastes and interests. Come for the day or take an extended break and enjoy all that the area has to offer, from peaceful picnics on the summit and relaxing walks to the thrills of motorbiking, four-wheel driving and mountain biking.

The Mt Buller Village also features a range of restaurants and various accommodation options, where you can enjoy the local cuisine and traditional mountain hospitality.

LOCATION AND HOW TO GET THERE

Fly in and drive:

If you want to fly in – we suggest Melbourne or Albury (Qantas/Rex). The locals reckon the drive from Albury is a bit smoother and we are currently liaising with providers in regards to potential shuttle/transport services from those airports.

Drive from Melbourne:

There are a few different routes you can take from Melbourne:

  • Plenty Rd via Whittlesea and Yea
  • Via the Hume Hwy to Tallarook and Yea
  • Via the Maroondah Hwy to Yarra Glen and Yea
  • Travelling from the north, follow the Hume Hwy south and take the Mansfield exit onto the Midland Hwy (B300). To get here via the most direct route using Google Maps and GPS, it is best to set your destination to Yea, then once you are in Yea set it for Mansfield, then Mt Buller from Mansfield

No matter which route you take from Melbourne to Mt Buller you will eventually come to Mansfield – the closest major town to the Resort. Pass through Mansfield and follow the signs to Mt Buller.

Drive from interstate:

Mt Buller is also easy to get to from interstate. Driving times from capital cities:

  • Melbourne: 3 hours
  • Canberra: 6 hours
  • Sydney: 9 hours
  • Adelaide: 9.5 hours

Unique among mountain biking destinations in Australia, Mt Buller offers both world-class cross-country and gravity trails, in the stunning surrounds of the Australian Alps. There is little wonder why Mt Buller Bike Park is one of Australia’s hottest ride destinations.

Mt Buller Bike Park is home to several firsts in Aussie mountain biking, including Australia’s first flow trail, Copperhead, and the Southern Hemisphere’s first and only IMBA Epic Trail, the infamous 46km descending cross-country trail, the Australian Alpine Epic.

Some properties can also be booked on an exclusive use basis – meaning you’ll have the run of the place for your stay.

Explore the VillageThe Mt Buller Village offers a range of facilities for visitors in summer, ensuring that everything you need is right at your doorstep. Drop into the Alpine Central Information Centre for all the latest tips and maps, visit the Buller Grocer for everything you forgot to bring, and duck into one of the village cafes for a well-deserved treat.

Stretch your legsThere’s no better way to unlock the secrets of the High Country than on your own two feet. Mt Buller and neighbouring Mt Stirling offer a variety of self-guided and guided hiking experiences for all ages and levels of fitness.

Putt your way to gloryMansfield’s mini-golf course is 18 holes of fun for the whole family. Suitable for all ages to have a go, bookings preferred but not required, and you can enjoy a coffee and delicious donuts while you await your turn!

Food glorious foodThe mountain air drives a good appetite, so stop and enjoy a bite at one of the eateries with everything from coffee and cake to a full pub meal. Soak up the sunshine on the brand new deck at Spurs Restaurant or grab a homemade treat with the best coffee in town at the Mirimbah Store.

Get a little bit lost…High Country Gardens, Gallery & Maze is a ‘must~see.’ A labour of love has transformed this into an amazing space complete with two established mazes, labyrinth, beautiful walled gardens, giant topiaries & sculptures, lawn games and of course, a gnome hunt! Bring the kids and enjoy refreshments from the licenced garden café.

Take a walk on the wild sideMansfield Zoo is one of North East Victoria’s hidden secrets, with a large collection of exotic and native animals on 30 acres of picturesque parkland. Hand or spade feed many of the animals as you wander, including deer and kangaroos! Meet Hobbs, the mischievous capuchin monkey and Cybil the cheeky camel who loves to steal spades. Bring along family, friends and a picnic lunch or have a BBQ in the undercover facilities.

Paintball in the High CountryVictoria’s newest Paintball Fields are set in the natural farming landscape of Barwite with gum trees, car junkyards, and massive rock fields proving to be a great challenge for the daring and enthusiastic.
Mansfield Paintball also caters for a variety of ages with Miniball games for juniors starting at just 10 years old!

Pick up the paceMt Buller and Mt Stirling’s pristine environment and sensational trails have long been popular with walkers, hikers and mountain bikers, and now offers trail runners an ideal destination. A cool climate, along with stunning views, varied terrain and a range of trails to suit all levels combine to create one heck of a trail running experience.

Mansfield Historical SocietyLocated at the old Mansfield Railway Station building in High Street, this committee of hard-working volunteers work together to conserve, share, explore, remember & learn about the many valuable stories of the past. Its considerable archives & databases contain a wealth of information about the history of Mansfield and the surrounding district including genealogical information, microfiche documents, photos, memorabilia, maps and an extensive clothing collection.
