Rocky Trail Entertainment achieves Ecotourism Australia Nature Certification

Corporate News | A message from our founders Juliane and Martin Wisata

On behalf of the team at Rocky Trail Entertainment Pty Ltd we are delighted to share that the business has been successful in joining the world-leading Ecotourism Australian Nature Certification by demonstrating best practice in sustainability and ecotourism.

This month all Rocky Trail Entertainment events have been Ecotourism Certified in the Nature Tourism category. As founders we see this as a major milestone achievement for our business and one that the entire teams is thoroughly proud of. By achieving Ecotourism Australia Nature Certification status the business joins fellow exemplary operators in terms of sustainability and provision of authentic, high-quality nature-based tourism experiences.

The ECO Certification logo means that with Rocky Trail you are guaranteed to be part of a genuine and authentic trail-based nature experience that looks after the environment. The ECO Certification program assures our customers and community that certified products are backed by a commitment to sustainable practices and provide high quality nature-based tourism experiences.

“We founded Rocky Trail Entertainment from a passion for cycling and the appreciation of nature. We both grew up in the Austrian country-side, so we’ve always shared this deep appreciation for and connection to nature. For us this certification is not a sign-off as such, but rather the continuation of our business journey to make a difference in our small realm of nature tourism and trail-based tourism activity in Australia”, explains Juliane Wisata.

About Rocky Trail Entertainment

Founded in 2008, Rocky Trail Entertainment has assembled a highly experienced management team with Jo Parker and Bob Morris leading the charge of event operations. The business operates across NSW, QLD, VIC and the ACT with core support and operational crews in each state. The business organises over 40 events annually along the East Coast of Australia and has established the Fox Superflow® events as the fastest-growing gravity enduro racing series in the country. With a line-up of cross-country marathons and lap-races, the Rocky Trail Academy schools events were introduced in 2019 and this year got over 1500 students out into nature on their bikes. With close to 8,500 competitors and over 5,000 non-racing visitors in 2022 overall, the company has generated over $4 million dollars in tourism for the hosting regions this year.

Rocky Trail continues to grow its network of racers and supporters providing positive event environments for them to connect to a community of like-minded people and surrounded by nature on ‘rocky trails’.

Juliane says that Rocky Trail Entertainment respects and supports the pleasures of mountain biking and related self-reliant outdoor activities. As such the company has been advocating that all of us have a big responsibility to protect and preserve the natural landscape for the enjoyment of future generations.

Both passionate mountain bikers, Juliane said that she and Martin wanted to utilise the network they have generated to increase environmental awareness and sustainability. Their passion for trail-based activities and with their events supporting the growth of regional tourism in Australia for over a decade, has led to the foundation of sister company Rocky Trail Destination Pty Ltd. The shared vision with the consulting business is to enable and initiate the creation of sustainable whole-of-community benefits and growth through nature-based tourism.

Rocky Trail’s Sustainability Pledge

“We will encourage our racers to follow some simple tips to ‘tread softly’ when visiting the bush and minimise damage to the natural environment. These guidelines are laid out in our Sustainability Policy and will be communicated and encouraged via Rider Briefings and at the events.”

Juliane Wisata, Founder and Director Rocky Trail Entertainment

With its head office based on the Central Coast, Rocky Trail Entertainment was a participant on the Central Coast council ECO Operator Incentive Program as part of the wider ECO Destination program with Ecotourism Australia (EA). This partnership with Central Coast Council and Destination Central Coast as one of Australia’s first ECO Destinations and Ecotourism Australia, with funding support from WWF-Australia’s Wildlife & Nature Recovery Fund, was one of the big motivating factors throuhgout the certification process, explained Wisata.

Rocky Trail is excited to join and play an active role in the family of Ecotourism Australia-certified operators who are committed to sustainable practices.
