Redland City Council hosts Rocky Trail Racing weekend with 550 mountain bikers at Eastern Escarpment
The popular mountain bike trails at Mt Cotton/Eastern Escarpment had over 200 students compete in the Rocky Trail Academy Schools race on the Friday and close to 350 gravity racers lined up for the Fox Superflow® across the weekend.
With the Fox Superflow® the Redland City Council secured one of Australia’s most popular gravity events to the Mt Cotton/Eastern Escarpment trails. Master racer Joel Rhodes from Daisy Hill took out the outright line-honours with a total race time of 8:05.2 on the three challenging race tracks. Alex Shadbolt from Cooroy won the Elite category in 8:06 with a 5 second gap ahead of Bailey Meares in second and Luke Radley in third. Notably, U17’s racer Tom Jenkins from the NSW North Coast was 5th outright.
Women’s elite racer Jess Hoskin from the Sunshine Coast continued her strong Superflow® season with another win with 8:36.8 and reaches 3,000 QLD Series points. Shannon Petre from Clontarf was second and U19’s racer Sarah Craft was third outright.
U17’s racer Annie Mayne from Belmont took out her category, backing up an amazing Rocky Trail Academy win on the Friday. Annie raced with fellow students for Moreton Bay Colleges and claimed the outright Rocky Trail Academy School Championship title with 200 points. In second was Iona College (136 pts) and Ambrose Treacy College (113 pts).
