Local racer Jake Simpson takes the Elite and outright win in Ipswich, Jess Hoskin unreachable in Elite female series lead

Jake Simpson from Ipswich takes the Elite and outright win in the Fox Superflow® on the Castle Hill MTB tracks in a big field of almost 350 competitors from all over QLD and NSW. The 30-year old clocked in a total race time of 5:41.1 on the four timed gravity enduro race stages.

With Alex Shadbolt (5:50.9) from the Noosa region and fellow local Ipswich racer Ehren Keiden (5:51.6) on the Elite podium, it was the 17-year old Isiaiah Kelso who claimed the outright second place with 5:41.8.

The young gravity talent from Brisbane took out the U19 classification and also the 30+ racer Adam Aitken (see top featured image) from Ferny Grove took an outright top placing – 4th outright ex aequo with Shadbolt. Great result also from the big U17’s field – Finley Mueller from Camp Mountain wins with 5:59.9 ahead of Tom Jenkins from the NSW North Coast (6:01.9). In the female category, Annie Mayne won the U17’s with 7:14.4.

Jess Hoskin claims Elite Female Series win early

The event was part of a QLD Series ranking and the Elite racer Jess Hoskin from the Glasshouse Mountains blasted ahead with another win to claim the 2022 title early.

With 6:23.6 Hoskin won ahead of Sacha Mills from Mt Cotton (6:48.2) and Holly Lubcke from Beerwah (6:53.5).

Again, the eBike category had a big uptake across both male and female classifications; the former Australian National Downhill Champion Sarsha Huntington from Currumbin wins the women’s classification with 6:40.2, which would have seen her in 2nd outright among the females. Alex Shaddy from Cooroy was the men’s winner with 5:52.2, also a top 10 position outright.

The Queensland Fox Superflow® will deliver one more race near Brisbane in August: Eastern Escarpment/Mt Cotton on 27+28 August.
