The Rocky Trail crew has marked the trails at Stromlo for Rd5 and here are a few notes for our racers this weekend.
So, if you’ve read the rider briefing, you’ll know that we’ll have three timed tracks and you’ll have to ride to the starts of each track; there are no shuttles and we’ll have marshalls out to check that no private shuttles are used. You can check out the trails tomorrow, Saturday, and on Sunday from 9am until midday. There will be a compulsory rider briefing at the event centre near the car park at 12pm and then racing starts and you can complete the tracks by 3pm. Be at your third start no later that 2:50pm – check out the schedule for more info.
Here is the track map:
To get to the race starts, follow the fire trail climb, which is marked from the event centre. It is the shortest way to the top of the mountain to get to all three starts. If you’re doing the FOX (Porkbarrell/Double Dissolution) Trail, you can do a fire trail climb at the back to get up the the FOX/JetBlack trail hub, where we’ll have a permanent marshall station too.
Remember, you can choose the order of your race tracks and you can ride together in groups however you want. There are no designated start times; all three trails are open simultaneously. We only ask that you complete your race by 3pm (be at the last start by 2:50pm).
CamelBak Trail
(Vapour/Downhill/Playground Trail)

This is probably the more technical trail out of the three – if you want to save energy on Sunday and only do one or two trails in the morning, we’d recommend you include this one. We are using the Vapour “flow” trail and then duck into the downhill trail at Stromlo.
So you’ll start at the top by HOLDING (not swiping) your chip over the HOLE of the timing unit until it beeps and then turn onto the Vapour trail, which will take you to the big Stromlo bridge tunnel. We bunted off the big A-line jump after the bridge; stay left towards Luge then stay straight before that first berm, continuing on the downhill track.

Note, that we bunted off all the major A-lines, please familiarise yourself with the ideal lines.

You finish going through the playground section where you can choose a couple of different lines and do a wall ride if you want to. You finish with a sprint past the 4X hill at Stromlo (right of it) towards the overpass. We’ll bunt it so you have to stay right on the overpass and the finish will be in the meadow right in the event centre. – There you have to STOP and hold your chip over the HOLE of the timing unit until it beeps.
JetBlack Trail
(Skyline/Luge Trail)
Very straight forward and fast trail – you start at the Fox/JetBlack hub. Skyline is first. To turn into Luge, you have to do a sharp left-hand turn right before the bridge tunnel – because that one is used by the CamelBak (Vapour trail) racers.

FOX Trail
(Pork Barrel / Double Dissolution Trail)
This is a fun a fast trail with heaps of rollovers and berms. Be sure to choose the speed that’s right for you to go over them.

Enjoy the race!
