***Important Update THURSDAY, 30 August***
Our Race Director Martin wants to share this race track and venue access information with you:
Here is what awaits you – check out our Fox Superflow, sealed by Stan’s Midseason Trailer, produced at Jolly Nose MTB Park in July!
Rocky Trail Links:
The venue is Stromlo Forest Park and it is off Cotter Road in Canberra (ACT).
You get to Cotter Road via the Tuggeranong Parkway. Once on Cotter road, continue onto John Gorton Drive until you get to Opperman Avenue. Turn left at the traffic lights on Opperman Avenue and continue until you reach Stromlo Forest Park. There is a big round about at the entrance; you will see the car park where the main event centre is located.
More information about Stromlo Forest Park can be found here: www.stromloforestpark.com.au
It is a public MTB track and you can ride it in the lead up to the race.

Race schedule and rules
This is the Championship event and it is a 2-day race! You race two race tracks on Saturday and two on Sunday, twice each. So there will be a whopping 8 timed race sections counting towards the final result!
We will once again run our new timing system and here is what we have in store for you for The Championships:
- 4 tracks – 2 on Saturday (Fox & Stan’s), 2 on Sunday (Jetblack & Owayo). The plan is to have 4 different ones but we’ll see how we go.
- You will need to do 2 runs per track. You have up to 5 tries per track, your 2 fastest runs will count.
- U13 and U15 categories will only have to do 1 run per track but also have multiple tries where their fastest time will count.
- The Championships are a standalone event and there are no points on offer towards the series.
- No shuttles allowed on either race day.
- Yes, you can race with your series number plates. Please let us know on the day.
Everyone is welcome to race – you do not need to qualify to be allowed to enter.
A note on race plate positioning
At the last race in July 2018 we had a few problems with plates that weren’t attached properly and our aim is always a 100% success rate when it comes to timing our races. Please help us achieve that!
In order to assure that the timing chips on the back of your number plates ‘fire’ when you cross the finish mat, please follow those rules when attaching it to your bike.
Please make sure that:
- you attach it only onto the handlebar using the holes already in the plate
- the chip on the back of the plate doesn’t touch any part of your frame or handlebar
- you don’t cut, punch extra holes or alter the number plate
Cheers!
The Championship title reward
First of all, your race entry comes with the following:
- Race plate and timing chip

About the Fox Superflow, sealed by Stan’s
What a “rollercoaster” ride it’s been to bring you our enduro-style events since 2012! For the 10-year anniversary season of 2018 we will bring you a completely re-loaded set of events. Same awesomeness, all your favourites, new trails, more ooomph and “superflowy”!!
Race the Fox Superflow sealed by Stan’s in 2018 – each race is a standalone event and you can collect points for the series ranking! We’ll kick it off at Stromlo Forest Park – launching the Fox Superflow with one of the most popular race tracks and destinations in …. like ever! Check out the website for all series venues and dates still coming up:
- 29+30 Sept: 2-day Greenvalley’s Bonanza *this will blow your socks off*
- 10-Nov… *drum roll* A-W-A-B-A!
Why Superflow?
Because the race tracks are picked by the Rocky Trail crew so that they give the riders that “super flowy” feeling! Each timed section demands different skill sets of the riders – from tricky sections around rocks and tight corners to flowy berms and quick stints that needed pedal power and endurance.
Almost all events require riders to ride to the starts on their bikes and it that way the series offers a big variety of trails. All our trails can be as tough as you want them to be – there are always different line choices and generally, the faster and the harder you go, the more challenging they get. We specifically pick our venues to meet those requirements.
No start order, no worries
They are unique Australia-wide in that we can offer an awesome day out to a wide range of riders – from elite to amateur racers to families, couples and groups of friends riding together. We have introduced a very flexible timing system so our events don’t require any start orders and riders can pick the sequence in which to complete the timed race stages themselves. That way, riders of different categories can spend all day riding and racing together.
#rockytraildestination: Canberra & Stromlo Forest Park
There is so much to do and so much to see – we’ve chatted to some of our local #rockytrailracers for their insider tips on this #rockytraildestination and hope we can tempt you to a weekend away!

He’s won countless national series races and represented Australia at the World Championships 7 times, as well as many World Cups. As well as 10 years of skills coaching experience, Dylan has raced internationally for years and won across various disciplines, including cross country, marathon, short track, road, and enduro. About Stromlo
“As one of our favourite places to ride, we are very lucky to consider Stromlo our ‘backyard’. The varied trails have a bit of everything for everyone, including rock gardens, rolling berms, tight skatey corners, tricky climbs and fast and flowy sections.”
About the race track
“My favourite trails are the steep, technical descents that involve tight corners, for example ‘Short n Sharp’ out the back of Stromlo. I enjoy riding back up to the top of the mountain on the steep and rocky ‘Black Snake Gully’ too”
Before and after the race
“My perfect weekend involves coffee, sunny outdoors activity and family time:…”
Lake Burleigh Griffin
Taking my girls in the bike trailer for a spin around Lake Burleigh Griffin and stopping at a café. My favourite local cafe is Bite to Eat in Chifley, but if I am over north, I love Sweet Bones in Braddon. These days my coaching business gets me outdoors and riding on the weekends too.

National Arboretum
The park at the Arboretum is a favourite family spot, as is the mini train at Weston Park.
Note from Juliane at Rocky Trail – one of our absolute favourite playgrounds in Canberra, caters for kids of all ages 🙂
Centenary Trail
A hidden gem and also one of my favourite local trails to ride is the Kambah Pool to Point Hut scenic trail. It is part of the Centenary Trail and runs parallel to the Murrumbidgee River.
Putting his home track advantage to good use at Stromlo: Dylan Cooper.
Di Gbel, #rockytrailracer and Pedal 4 Pierce ambassador
After an elbow injury in 2017, Di is getting back into riding and racing and loves to explore her home trails in Canberra. Here are her insider tips:
“There are lots of places, you can do the walks up Black Mountain and Mt Ainslie – the lookout is awesome. Take the kids to Questacon or even to the Dinosaur Museum at Gold Creek!”
Favourite Museums
Favourite Cafes along Centenary Trail
The Cupping Room is in the City and Two Before Ten is in Aranda, both a short ride from the Centenary Trail that encloses the entire city!
Favourite Pubs
Favourite parks and playgrounds for the kidlets
