Rider briefing: Fox Superflow Taree 2019

Fox Superflow racing is your MTB life with the volume turned up and a new race venue officially takes it to 11!

We are absolutely thrilled to bring you this brand-new Fox Superflow venue at Kiwarrak State Forest near Taree with thanks to our hosting club, the Manning-Great Lakes Tip Riders Mountain Bike Club.

The local club took our Race Director out for a ride in July and he is absolutely hooked on the place! Hasn’t stopped talking about how much fun the trails are ever since! There will be three tracks with great access trails to the starts – you’re in for a fun day out on rocky trail with us!

Rocky Trail’s Fox Superflow, sealed by Stan’s is one of the original enduro-style gravity racing series in Australia – this is the official rider briefing for the Fox Superflow Race, sealed by Stan’s for 22 September 2019

If you have already signed up, it’s awesome to have you on board! Still one the fence? Online registrations are open until Saturday at 12pm before race day! Should we be getting close to selling out, we will communicate it via our website and our social media platforms.

IMPORTANT Catering Update, Saturday 21 Sept, 10:30am!
Unfortunately the local coffee van we had lined up just cancelled on us. At this late stage we’re afraid that we won’t be able to organise a replacement. However, we still have the Redbull Wings team coming with ‘sparkling energy fuel’ and we’ll organise some basic snacks for Sunday midday.
We apologise for the inconvenience.

Otherwise, there is a service centre as you turn off the M1 and the town of Tinonee has a General Store and Takeaway Restaurant (about 2km away). Taree is just across the river and has supermarket, shops and restaurants.

Weather forecast:
We have been reviewing the weather forecast for this weekend and it all looks very promising. Some rain predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday before race day and it is actually very welcome as the trails have been very dry.

The venue – Kiwarrak State Forest

This will be the first Rocky Trail event in Taree and we would like to thank the local MGL Tippies Club for having us! They recommended and helped select a set of fantastically flowy trails and there will actually be two starts to three race tracks…. we will be introducing a new feature: THE JUNCTION! All details below!

Access to the event centre is via the Bucketts Way via Deans Creek Road on Tinonee Road.

You can find a map on the EVENT WEBSITE.

The race tracks

Good news for all #foxsuperflowracers: we just upgraded our timing system again so we can have more automated (roll-in) starts!

  • 3 race tracks and you’ll need to complete each race track once
  • Combined race times count
  • Fox & Lazer trails:
    • will use the SAME START, commencing down on the “Trampoline” trail
    • will feature the new JUNCTION feature
    • FOX will turn RIGHT into “Lobotomy”
    • Lazer will continue LEFT on “Braindamage” and then use parts of the “Skull” trails.
  • Stan’s: starts on the “River” trail and then turns into and continues on the “Sunbeam” track
  • Up trails: use firetrails (Tinonee Rd, Peach Tree Trail)
  • See the local trails on Trailforks here
  • Remember, you can choose the order in which you do your race runs – no start order, no worries!

Check out the trailmap on our website and here is the direct Google Maps link:

The racing – a social affair

The Fox Superflow events, sealed by Stan’s are unique Australia-wide! They are enduro-style gravity races, based on the European and North American formats, HOWEVER, at Rocky Trail there are:

(1) No Start Orders – you can ride with your friends, kids and partners together all day, even if they are in a different age/skill category

(2) No Worries – you pick the sequence of race tracks, the timing points are all LIVE as soon as the racing starts

(3) Spend all day together! – They are unique Australia-wide in that we can offer an awesome day out to a wide range of riders – from elite to amateur racers to families, couples and groups of friends riding together. We have introduced a very flexible timing system so our events don’t require any start orders and riders can pick the sequence in which to complete the timed race stages themselves. That way, riders of different categories can spend all day riding and racing together!

Race atmosphere

The atmosphere in our event centre is friendly, happy and inclusive and you will see that Martin is very much in charge. We have been working with most of our suppliers for years – from first aiders to marshals to caterers to photographers, it is our top priority for you to have an amazing time out on your bike and to lend a helping (and rescuing) hand if need be.

Race results

Will be available LIVE during the race – we’ll try our hardest to push all results to the website right away. Ourimbah is a bit of a challenge, as the club downhill finish for instance is out of reception, but we will place our timing gear so that we can transmit data as consistently as possible. Fingers crossed!! It should all work out and you can click through to the results portal via this link:
