The rains are here! If you check your inbox (and subscribe to our newsletter) we just posted a quick update on the tracks. Here's the summary
1. Shimano MTB GP - Round 1 Orange 15 February- all good
2. The Willo Marathon 1 March - too early to call
3. Jetblack 24 Hour - Rydal near Lithgow 28+29 March - all good

Our aim is to stage the race in Wingello as planned to give a much needed boost to local shops, restaurants and accommodation providers.

However, if it’s not ready in time or unsafe we will have an alternative venue ready for you close-by.

It’s too early to make a call but we will keep you informed as soon as we have any updates, hopefully in the next two weeks. We have people on the ground keeping us updated!

Racing is rarely about racing.

If we have 200 people at the track, 5 people care about the pointy end, the rest of us are there to race ourselves, be part of a challenge and mostly be part of a community.

Modern life is what it is. Sussan from accounts doesn’t understand why you want to sweat up a hill and smile all the way down. You probably barely understand why you are so obsessed, reading or thinking about bikes when you aren’t riding.

But we are who we are. We are bonded by the sound of rubber on dirt. The smile when you tyres slide into a corner. The feeling of cresting a hill, mashing down gears and stepping on the pedals into a descent. Every one of us knows the feeling of tacky dirt, suspension railing you to the ground and joy going direct to your brain when you let go of the brakes.

We live for the days in the hills. The 5 days a week we spend behind desks is just the necessary part between riding bikes. We all wait for the summer days when we can get an extra ride in at night.

If you have the same mindset as us, join us this year. If you love XC, the GP races will have you talking tactics until you are blue in the face. If you race enduro, you will stand on corners with your friends examining the high line vs the low. Swearing that one line will help you hold speed out of the next corner.

In 2020, the community is our goal. More high fives. More racing as teams. More fun tracks. More getting racers involved with racers. We hope to see you on the track!

There are very few things like a 24 hour event. Even if XC is not your passion, getting group together and committing to it may be the best bonding experience of 2020.

Its almost hard to explain the feeling when your body goes ‘ok, I guess we’re doing this, fine, keep going’. You get so tired you legs just go almost numb, and you enter a new zone of riding that is very very different.

The quiet of riding in the middle of the night, just your tires and occasional wildlife piercing the silence. The feeling of coming into the pits and seeing riders going through the same thing as you. Riding from dark into dawn is a very magical experience, seeing the world light up around you.

Depending on how big your team is, you can make the race a huge challenge or perfectly doable for a weekend warrior.

If you have some brave friends, tag them, a 24 hour race is something you talk about for years!

With the Willo being at Wingello - we are very aware that the fires have devasted the local area. Its our huge hope by 1 March (the race date) we can bring huge crowds to the local area and give back to the community. We're brainstorming ways we can help the trails now, but if this is your local, we hope you are doing ok, and the track will be up soon!

Nobody loves the Aussie bush more than mountain bikers. The news over the break has been horrible. If you have the means, a great way to give back is to plan a road trip out to these areas, and go with an empty esky, bike in the boot, stay in local places and eat in local restaurants. Use the local bike stores and help people recover.

Many businesses rely on Christmas to New Years' break to get through the year, now with all the damage, times are much harder. Tag your mates and get a riding road trip happening in Feb, the Easter holidays, or whenever you can!

HOW TO GET EWS POINTS. Ok, so we're excited about this. In basics, we will have a line-up of three race tracks for all competitors and will add a 4th track that needs to be completed by all those racers who want EWS points.

We'll start getting more info about the 4th track shortly, but this is your first chance to see how you fare against other future EWS competitors.

You will need to pin to win, so if you want points, we hope you have started training! At least 4 ups at Awaba will take some steam!
