Rocky Trail Queensland | Event Update

Be a #rockytrailracer in Queensland!

After our journeys north RTE QLD has settled back in the SE corner to kick off the end of the racing season for 2020 in QLD. We have your style of racing covered with both Shimano GP & Fox Superflow on offer plus 3 Rocky Trail Academy events for the junior shredders.

Shimano GP Mt Crosby Sunday 25th October

Race 3 | Mt Crosby QLD | 25.10.2020

Headlining the racing is the Shimano GP Mt Crosby Sunday 25th October – offering both the new trail excitement and the stay at home vibe. Situated on Bunya Road the Scout Camp Tyamolum has previously be known for exciting XC racing but the venue has been transformed with many volunteer hours by Kenmore Cycling club and Brisbane Off Road Riders Alliance to create a 7km loop combining single track and fire road allowing easy passing. Big plans are underway with this venue to include Gravity and more single track into the future providing more network for Brisbane riders. To help support this expansion $10 from every entry goes to Kenmore CC to help make real this vision.

Now is the time to show your support, gather your mates, clock up the k’s and come and race in your local backyard. The Shimano GP format provides a ‘seriously fun” racing experience for all and don’t forget it is on a Sunday so plenty of time to get prepared.
Also camping is on offer at the venue with multiple areas available for you and the family and if you are lucky the natural creek running through the site might have a waterhole for a refreshing dip.

Rocky Trail Academy Junior MTB GP Sat 24th October

Junior MTB Grand Prix | Mt Crosby QLD | 24.10.2020

We also have kids racing covered at Mt Crosby, for the first time in Rocky Trail racing we have designed a Junior GP format catering for little shredders as young as 5 to under 15. Pick the distance and off they go. Check it out – Rocky Trail Academy Junior MTB GP Sat 24th October

Rocky Trail Academy Gold Coast Mountain Bike Comp Fri 30 October

Rocky Trail Academy Gold Coast Mountain Bike Comp

Leaving Mt Crosby we head back to the Gold Coast to host the very popular Rocky Trail Academy Gold Coast Mountain Bike Comp in conjunction with Nerang State High School. Scheduled for Friday 30th October at Nerang National Park registrations have opened and already we have representation from 14 schools which will ensure the day is competitive. Which School will be awarded best Overall for 2020! Will Hillcrest Christian College retain the plaque for a 2nd year?

Sunshine Coast

We then head North to the gorgeous Sunshine Coast to Sugarbag Mountain Bike Park. Situated in the heart of Caloundra with ocean breezes a plenty if you have not ridden here before you will be in for a treat. Technical, flowy, tight with lots of timber features we will be busy marking the course with lots of Shimano bunting to ensure no sneaky lines are taken. This network pocket has seen very little racing in the past and will be very popular so don’t be slow in registering as you may miss out!

On offer are two great events:

Rocky Trail Academy Sunshine Coast – Fri 6th November

Rocky Trail Academy Sunshine Coast MTB Comp

The very popular school format Rocky Trail Academy Sunshine Coast – Fri 6th November. Designed for secondary school students this event format caters for riders of all abilities. 3 tracks, multiply runs, live timing and lots of time to ride with your mates or meet new friends. Registration are open and with a flow of emails from local schools this event looks like it will be another one to lock into the annual calendar.

Shimano GP Sunshine Coast – Sat 7th November

Shimano MTB GP Sunshine Coast 7 November

The Shimano GP Sunshine Coast – Sat 7th November a 4/7hr XC endurance race offering solo or team categories. Plus a one off chance for the unique Single speed racer we have you covered in this event, offering both the 4hr and 7hr open category to get your race fix. Very few opportunities are available for single speed riders so spread the word and gather the troops for an unbeatable experience.

Rocky Trail Entertainment is super excited to be bringing Mountain Bike events to the Sunshine Coast. Working with both Caloundra Offroad Cycling Association CORCA and Sunshine Coast Regional council we are looking forward to a great weekend of racing with plenty of opportunity to explore the local shops, stay on the beach and explore the fabulous Sunshine Coast whilst visiting. Perfect reason to plan your road trip now and experience some good racing.

Fox Superflow Mt Joyce Sat 28 + Sun 29 November

Race 5 | Mt Joyce QLD | 28.11.2020

We then move to Mt Joyce and what better way than to finish off the year of many challenges 2020 by sealing it with our most popular format the Fox Superflow Mt Joyce Sat 28th or Sun 29th November.

Why Mt Joyce you ask? This venue has previously experienced some of the best racing for the last decade to then a decline of activities of the past few years. With some amazing trail maintenance this year the tracks are back to becoming one the most rated networks again in SE QLD. On offer is one of my favourite tracks the Bovine Groove, this is a perfect example of a Fox Superflow track we luv to offer 2.2km of fast flow trail will see this track a very popular choice over the weekend. Mt Joyce will be the ultimate venue to cap of the year of racing with a combined tracks offering 7.4km of racing. Who will be crowned the King and Queen for Fox Superflow Mt Joyce?

Queensland, we have you covered and we cannot wait to announce our Rocky Trail 2021 event calendar, with a short sharp QLD series North & South and great industry support we look forward to welcoming you all to the #rockytrailracingcommunity
