We are so proud to announce some amazing news: today, the Eurobodalla Shire Council announced Rocky Trail Destination as the project lead agency for the Mogo Adventure Trail Hub (MATH) development.
Rocky Trail Destination is a sister business to Rocky Trail Entertainment and was founded by Juliane and Martin Wisata together with Joe Mullan – you’d be so excited to know that he too is a #rockytrailracer! Based at our Adelaide office, Joe has been managing the re-build of Fox Creek Bike Park for almost a year and some of you may have see the recent article about the huge effort he has put in on the ground in the recent AMB Magazine.
We – Juliane and Martin – have been a bit quiet these last few lockdown weeks. We have been supporting our QLD crew who thankfully have been able to host events, however, it’s been so tough not to bring you events in NSW, VIC and the ACT. Whilst once again getting our operations ready to return to the start lines as soon as we can and we threw ourselves into work for Rocky Trail Destination with Joe Mullan, which resulted in today’s announcement:
We will manage the detailed design, construction and destination development of a 155km trail network, which will comprise about 125km of new trail and formalisation of the 30km of existing mountain bike trails in Mogo State Forest and Deep Creek Dam. It is based on the masterplan approved in 2020 and will connect to Mogo and Batehaven.
The Mogo Adventure Trail Hub (MATH) has the potential to attract 45,000 visitors to Eurobodalla in its first year of operation, resulting in an estimated $11.8 million injection to the local economy. The $8 million project will be built using a $5 million grant from the NSW and Australian governments’ Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund and a $3 million grant from the NSW Government’s Growing Local Economies fund.

The Rocky Trail Destination team is looking forward to playing a key role in rebuilding and transforming Mogo’s future through the implementation of the MATH project. As Destination Builders our vision is for the Mogo Adventure Trail Hub to be a significant destination in Australia, providing a high quality and variety of trails that will inspire and excite a broad range of riders across all age groups and skill levels.
Introducing the team:
Juliane and Martin Wisata have understood the positive impact of nature- and trail-based activities in Mogo for many years, having delivered mountain biking competitions in the region since 2018. Their events business has established itself over the past decade as a major force in encouraging visitation in regional Australia and, through founding Rocky Trail Destination with Joe Mullan, now offer a complete nature-based tourism development support program for clients such as Eurobodalla Shire Council.
Together they represent a team of experts that bring thorough experience in national and international nature-based tourism sectors as well as off-road visitation, which will deliver recreational, social, and economic benefits to the local Eurobodalla community.
“We are confident to deliver the project for the benefit of all stakeholders, supporting the local Eurobodalla Shire Council and community for the new tourism and recreation asset to sustainably complement the region’s richness of existing experiences”, said Project Leader Martin Wisata and confirmed that the team had appointed Next Level Mountain Bike as the principal construction partner.
Our mission in Mogo: building the most progressive trail network in Australia
Trails designer Marcelo Cardona said the company lived and breathed mountain biking. Marcelo Cardona is the founder of Next Level Mountain Bike and will head up the construction operations in Mogo. He said that his commitment was to enable plans to become to reality. Marcelo brings 15 years of experience in trail building to our construction of trails at Mogo.
“We feel it is a privilege to build trails in the diverse natural environment of Mogo and take our responsibilities very seriously, working with environmental respect. We will deliver the latest and best international standards in trail building for the enjoyment of mountain bikers of all skill levels. Through working alongside the innovative team at Rocky Trail Destination, we will create the most progressive trail network in the country”, Marcelo Cardona said.

Rocky Trail Destination’s Juliane Wisata said that the team will see the Mogo trail and tourism destination development project through from start to finish, developing a tailored strategy that delivers whole-of-community benefits beyond the project timeline into the future.
Adds Joe Mullan, “The new trail network in Mogo will excite visiting and local outdoor experience enthusiasts and mountain bike riders especially. We will help establish a tourism asset that will be a catalyst for the local community to thrive, providing socio-economic benefits across all local community and business sectors in the Eurobodalla.”
