Round 1 Rider Briefing

For Round 1 of the RedAss NSW/ACT Downhill State Series we will be racing at a brand new track at the Green Valleys Free Ride Park! It’s located at Tongarra, NSW, in the Foothills of the Macquarie Pass National Park between Shellharbour and Moss Vale. Here are some more details in the lead up to this weekend’s event, which will coincide with the Xup-Freeride Festival also held at the same venue.

 

  • All registered downhill competitors get free spectator entry to the Xup zone.
  • Spectator tickets are $10 for those who wish to watch the action and stay for the party. – You can get it through the online registration or at the Xup entry gate on the day.
  • To ride in the Xup zone is $30 for those who have registered for the downhill comp – you can add it when you register for the DH online, otherwise its $40 for a general rider ticket on the day.
  • All DH racers require a MTBA licence, please bring it to the registration desk on the day to proof the validity. Rocky Trail can also issue Day Licenses (online or on the day), which are valid for the weekend.

Please note that this downhill track is only open on event days and the race track is officially closed to the public. Track walks will be allowed on Friday afternoon. A big shout out to the Wollongong MTB Club for their huge efforts and tireless work that went into this track!

Event location
Just punch in Tongarra, NSW on Google maps or your GPS NAV device – get on the Illawarra Hwy and you cant miss it. There are event centre maps on the Rocky Trail website.

Event schedule
Saturday registration opens at 8am, shuttles start at 9am. Open practice until 3pm, Elites and U19’s until 4pm.
Sunday late registration from 8:45am-10am, shuttles from 9am, practice until 11am; race start from 11:30am.
Est. ceremony at 3pm.

Race rules
Please familiarise yourself with the official race rules, which are available on the event website. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to chat to our crew: Race Director Martin Wisata, Event Director Juliane Wisata and the Chief Commissaire Tim Butler.
Important for seeding: Juliane will pre-assign race plates, however, we can still adjust the seeding and re-print them on the day. Please talk to her on Saturday, we can’t make any changes once the timing crew has set up the system on Sunday morning.

Camping
Camping for competitors is allowed and free from Friday afternoon. The Rocky Trail crew will be staying on-site also.
Camp fires are allowed, but please bring your own firewood.
There are toilets but no showers.

Catering
We have organised our Daily Espresso catering crew who will be on-site on Saturday and Sunday morning until early afternoon, serving breakfast and yummy RedAss Mexican Food for lunch.
For the afternoons the local club will organise a BBQ to raise funds for their trail building activities.

First Aid
Pink First Aid will be on-site to look after our DH racers.
