EVENT CANCELLED
Unfortunately we have to cancel the Shoalhaven Gravel Ride this coming Sunday. There are some likely changes to the running and cycling course due to a landslide which won’t allow anymore for two-way traffic on one of the major roads we were going to use.
While the runners can most likely run on an alternate track this won’t be possible for gravel riders.
It is a shame as we were massively looking forward to our first venture into Gravel Riding but this won’t be our last attempt.
All entries will be refunded over the coming days.
Hope to see you out on the trails soon,
Martin and the Rocky Trail Crew

This is not a race, it’s a journey through the Kangaroo Valley, one of the only seven closed valleys in the world! The Summit Shoalhaven Gravel Ride is part of the re-launch of one of Australia’s most iconic off-road trail events, the Shoalhaven King of the Mountain to the Summit of Mt Scanzi. You’re in for an awesome back-road adventure in lush rolling farmland, exploring the beautiful Upper Shoalhaven Riverland and then return back to Kangaroo Valley.

Event Format Gravel Ride
The Summit Shoalhaven is a cooperation between Rocky Trail Entertainment and Elite Energy Events. We are teaming up two highly experienced outdoor event crews, each doing what they do best:
- Elite Energy will host a Trail Run featuring 4 distances and
- Rocky Trail organises the 51km Gravel Ride on the same day, Sunday – note this ride takes place after their cross-country 4-hour MTB race at Nowra (Shimano MTB Grand Prix at Coondoo State Forest on Saturday – scroll down for details).
The 51km Gravel Ride takes you on a scenic route through the magnificent Kangaroo Valley and the Upper Shoalhaven Riverlands. After a neutral section, you will be unleashed minutes before the first wave of runners and you will be sharing portions of the fire roads. Encourage each other! This is not a race, but you will get a KOM / QOM finisher time on top of Mt Scanzi when you cross it for the second time that day. This event is a first cooperation between Elite Energy and Rocky Trail Entertainment – be a part of when something new started!

Course Description
There is a mixture of well-maintained dirt road, less maintained fire trail, and a little bit of single
track. Nothing too technical.
The first 5km are neutral behind a service vehicle. Then the course begins with 20km of fire trail, followed by 5km of single track, finishing with 15km of fire trail.
You head upwards at the start, over Mt Scanzi and head steeply down to Duffys corner. Turning left here, winding down towards the gorgeous Bugong Creek Crossing (may get wet feet, depending on water levels!), and along the dirt Bugong Road in it’s entirety, before heading off to the right and down the escarpment and along some beautiful verdant upper Shoalhaven River land, before climbing sharply back out of there. Lots of beautiful sandstone to admire along the way. Once at the top, you have a lovely gentle downhill before rejoining Bugong Road to head back the way you came, with of course the spectre of Mt Scanzi rising to greet you. Once you have reached the Mt Scanzi saddle, you will test the quads on the downhill to the finish. 1005m of elevation gain.
Aid Stations
Gravel riders will pass an aid station at the following points: 4km, 11km, 19km, 29km and 36km. You will need to have enough fluids/nutrition to allow for the gaps between aid stations.
The refill stations will have water, KIND bars and salt packets available. Participants will need to
be self sufficient with race food and electrolytes.
